My Qualifications

I have a post graduate diploma in counselling and psychotherapy from Dublin Counselling & Therapy Centre at their Castlebar campus.  This is an approved training centre of the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapists and Irish Council of Psychotherapists.

The course tutors, and visiting academics are highly regarded experts in their field.

My four year training is eclectic covering a variety of approaches including experiential ones–  Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Rogerian Person Centred, Process Oriented, Psychosynthesis, Focusing and body oriented approaches.  I have developed a special interest in experiential work and trauma and its effect on our mind, spirit, emotions and body.

After finishing my core training I completed the Rape Crisis Network Specialist Trauma training.

I continue update my knowledge and skills by attending workshops certified by IAHIP on different aspects of my profession and keep abreast of new developments.

Some workshops that I have attended recently are on:

Adolescent Therapy, Psychosexual problems in Couple counselling, Neuroplasticity and psychotherapy, Trauma training based on Babette Rothschild model, Focusing, Motivational Interviewing and Self Harm.

I work in private practice in Carrick on Shannon and provide counselling for Sligo Leitrim Rape Crisis Centre at their Leitrim base.
